What you'll get

The Secretary of State's page on the Professional Corporation Act (G.S. Chapter 55B) says corporations and LLCs that render professional services are subject to that chapter and to the licensing statutes and rules of their own board, and it lists boards, including architecture, engineering, counseling, social work, psychology, chiropractic and accounting, whose entity requirements differ. If your profession is on the list, read your board's instructions before you form an LLC, because the page says each board has requirements for a business entity apart from the state's.

Do this week

If your profession is on the page, open your board's entry and write down what it requires of a business entity before you file anything with the Secretary of State; if it is not, skip this lesson.
