Landscape contracting
This lesson is a guide published by NCLCLB.
Read the guideWhat you'll get
For landscape contracting: the board's page lists the steps, an application with five reference letters and a $10,000 surety bond or letter of credit, then a three-part exam on design, general knowledge and plant identification. It does not say when a license is needed; G.S. 89D-13 exempts work where all contracts for one job site in any consecutive 12 months total under $30,000, and exempts mowing and turf care, so add up what you could bill at one site before you take it on.
Do this week
Add up what you could bill at your largest job site over 12 months, counting every contract there, and write down whether it could pass the $30,000 line in G.S. 89D-13.
