Not on this list, or not sure

This lesson is a guide published by NC BOLD.

What you'll get

For work not listed here, or if you are not sure: the NC Business and Occupational License Database, run by the NC Department of Commerce, is a searchable list of the state's licenses, and each entry shows the law behind it, fees, whether an exam or continuing education applies and the board to contact. The page says a counselor at EDPNC Small Business Advisors (1-800-228-8443) can answer license questions, and its About page says to check your city and county too, so search each service you plan to sell.

Do this week

Search the database for each service you plan to sell, write down every license it shows with its issuing board, and call the advisors' number about any you cannot match to your work.
