What you'll get

For counseling: the board's page says you must hold an active license to practice counseling in North Carolina, starting with a restricted associate license (LCMHCA) that cannot be used until a supervision contract is on file, then the independent LCMHC license. Every application costs $238, including a $38 background check, and the page describes a four to six week first review and then a board decision, so work those waits into your opening date.

Do this week

Work out which license you hold or need, then put the page's review times next to the date you want to start seeing clients to see when you must apply.
