A 2014 lecture by Scott Miller of Dragon Innovation, a hardware manufacturing consultancy, from a design for manufacturing course he taught at Olin College, with chapters on the pros, cons and risks of making a product in China, making it in the US, what goes into a request for quote package and the measures to judge a factory by. Despite its title it is mainly about choosing a factory and asking for quotes, and because it is old, take its checklist rather than any cost or country detail.
