One order of operations for starting a startup

What you'll get

Michael Seibel's order for the first months: pick a problem, build the simplest version that works, and get one or two customers before anything else; around the ten-minute mark he says most ideas don't need an incorporation to try. For a product you sell, the entity can wait, but North Carolina's rules for making food or cosmetics apply before your first sale.

Do this week

Go through this week's to-do list and, for each legal or paperwork task, ask whether it blocks your first batch or your next customer conversation. Move the ones that don't to later, but keep any step the state requires before you sell.
